Mucho Macho Man one of the top favorites in Preakness Stakes

Mucho Macho Man, like the rest of the field, had high hopes entering the Kentucky Derby. He managed to come through with a solid performance, finishing third at the first leg of the Triple Crown. Mucho Macho Man may not have won the race as he would have liked, but he figures to be a key figure in the quest for Animal Kingdom towards the Triple Crown.

Horse racing odds have Mucho Macho Man as one of the favorites at 5-1.

Mucho Macho Man had a great run at Belmont Park on the 17th of May, running the half-mile in 49 1/5 seconds. The track wasn’t in great condition, but the horse ran well over the four furlongs anyway.

One of the encouraging things was that the horse was pretty steady throughout his most recent run. He showed no signs of slowing down and it appears that the horse could have an even better race at the Preakness Stakes than he did at the Kentucky Derby.

Animal Kingdom was the winner of the Kentucky Derby and his biggest rival might be Mucho Macho Man due to some recent changes in the lineup at the Preakness Stakes. Nehro, the second place finisher at the Kentucky Derby, has withdrawn from the Preakness. Mucho Macho Man will likely start the Preakness Stakes as one of the favorites for the upcoming race.

Mucho Macho Man is owned by Reever Thoroughbred Racing and Dream Team Racing Stable. He is the son of Macho Uno and is ridden by Rajiv Maragh.

The Preakness Stakes will take place on the 21st of May in Pimlico.

Looking At – 2011 Kentucky Derby Betting Favorite

Uncle MoThere are a few horses that seem like favorites for the biggest horse race in the world as the Kentucky Derby is coming up.

In Kentucky Derby Odds, Uncle Mo is at 4-1 to win the Run for the Roses. Dialed In, at 3-1 is the only horse ahead of Uncle Mo in Kentucky Derby Betting.

Through his excellent racing in a number of G1 races, Uncle Mo earned his role as a favorite for the race. In October the horse started out his success in G1 races when he won at Champagne. In November, he continued with a winner at the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile. At the Timey Writer S. in March, his win continued to help his stock.

His last race raised some questions unfortunately. Uncle Mo was only able to finish in the 3rd place spot at the Wood Memorial, a G1 race. For the Kentucky Derby, some people felt like this showed that Uncle Mo wasn’t as much of a favorite as he was assumed to be.

Mike Repole of Repole Stable is the owner of Uncle Mo. For the horse, Repole has Todd A. Pletcher as the trainer. It looks like the Puerto Rican Jockey John Velazquez will ride the horse in the Derby as he has raced the horse for a while.

At Churchill Downs, the Kentucky Derby, the first leg of the Triple Crown, is scheduled to take place on the 7th of May, this Saturday. This Saturday Uncle Mo hopes to show up and put out a good performance. Uncle Mo may be a good candidate for a run at the Triple Crown if he is able to win the first leg of the Derby.

Triple Crown Series Will Be Broadcasted By NBC Sports

On Tuesday, NBC Sports said it will broadcast all three legs of thoroughbred horse racing’s Triple Crown for the first time since 2005.

Horse betting fans around the world are quite excited about this news as they will get better coverage of all famous races.

Since 2005 it will be the first time that the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont Stakes will all be shown by the same network. In 2006, the Belmont Stakes moved to ABC.

With Churchill Downs Inc., NBC had already reached a new deal to keep in place its coverage of the Kentucky Derby, which will be run on May 7 this year and the financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Dick Ebersol, NBC Sports Group Chairman said the network will combine forces with cable TV’s Versus Network also owned by NBC parent Comcast to provide expanded horse racing coverage for thoroughbred fans.

The deals include coverage of the Black Eyed Susan Stakes and other Preakness day and Belmont day programming on Versus, which recently joined NBC family through its merger with Comcast.

In addition, expanded Derby week programming, including the Kentucky Oaks and Derby day programming, will air on Versus. In all, the NBC networks will air 25 hours of Triple Crown coverage. The Preakness will be run May 21, with the 1-1/2 Belmont Stakes on June 11. No horse has managed to win all three races since Affirmed in 1978.

Since then, 11 horses have won the Kentucky Derby and Preakness but failed to conquer the Belmont. The last attempt was in 2008, when Big Brown failed to finish the race.

Big Red Mike Wins the Queens Plate – Horse Racing

In a series of three races, the Queen’s Plate is the first race: The Queen’s Plate, The Prince of Whale’s Stakes, and the Breeders’ Stakes. These three races, together, make up the Triple Crown. Queen Elizabeth was present for the 151st running of the Queen’s Plate race, which was held in Toronto, Canada.

Big Red Mike took the lead in this year’s Queen’s Plate race, from the beginning of the race. before the race, Eurico Rosa da Silva was Big Red Mike’s jockey, and said he joked with the horse about the Queen Elizabeth being there, but that there was “no pressure”. After winning the race, Big Red Mike became the third horse that has won the Queen’s Plate after also coming in first at the trial. Also, to win this race two years in a row, his jockey holds the honor of being the first jockey ever. Big Red Mike was trained by Nicholas Gonzalez.

A horse named Hotep was considered the favorite to win the Queen’s Plate, contrary to the outcome. By mere one and a half lengths, Hotep was beaten, and he is a brother to Eye of the Leopard who won the Queen’s Plate last year.

Colonial Turf Cup – Horse Racing – 2010 – Preview

Colonial Downs in New Kent, Virginia will once again play host to the Colonial Turf Cup, on Saturday, 19th June. Like the Kentucky Derby, this event does not have the allure of a race; it is quickly becoming an important race. The purse is at $750,000 for this year’s race. It is the first race in the “Grand Slam of Grass,” which encompasses four races; it is also unique in a way. Any horse that is able to win all four races wins a bonus of $5 million.

In 2005, the first Colonial Turf Cup was held. The race was upgraded from a Grade III race to a Grade II, last year. The race distance is 9.5 furlongs, which is equal to 1 and 3/16 of a mile.

There are several notable entries, while there are only seven horses in the Colonial Turf Cup this year. horse racing favorites, Dean’s Kitten and Paddy O’Prado are entered for the race Saturday and both ran in the Kentucky Derby. While these two horses have the name recognition, one of the biggest sleepers in the field is Kindergarten Kid, who has a record of 3-2 but has recently impressed

Anyone who enjoys horse racing should tune in to the Colonial Turf Cup this weekend, despite the lack of name recognition. The “Grand Slam of Grass” is still important and a $5 million bonus is a huge incentive for every jockey and owner entered, although it may not have the same allure that the Triple Crown does.

2010 Belmont Stakes – Preview

On Saturday June 5th, 2010 at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York, the 214th Belmont Stakes will take place. The purse has a one million dollar guarantee. There will be no Triple crown winner and this year is the thirty second year in a row. The last horse to win the Triple Crown was Affirmed in 1978.

Horse racing betting favorite, First Dude will win the last leg of the Triple Crown, hopes trainer Dale Romans, with neither the Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver or Preakness winner Lookin At Lucky competing in the Belmont. In the Preakness, Fist Dude finished second and third in the Kentucky Derby. He is in the number 4 position.

Ice Box the Kentucky Derby runner up, is headlining the race. To be better prepared for The Belmont Stakes, he did not run in The Preakness. Ice Box is trained by Nick Zito and Jose Lezcano will be on his back.

Ice Box is in the number 1 position.

In The Lone star Derby, Game On Dude had an impressive win. Bob Baffert who also trained Lookin At Lucky to victory at The Preakness with jockey Martin Garcia on his back was the winning combination.

Stately Victor, Fly Down, Make Music for Me, Drosselmeyer, Stay Put and Spangled Star are some other horses slated to run in the Belmont.

Horse Racing at Belmont Stakes could prove anticlimactic

As some of the horses and jockeys in the sport will not be taking part in the 3rd leg of the Triple Crown, the Belmont Stakes look to be without much excitement. In the race, Kentucky Derby Winner Super Saver and jockey Calvin Borel will not participate. The winner of the Preakness, Lookin at Lucky, will also not be a participant as the Belmont Stakes take place on June 5th.

Bob Baffert trained Lookin at Lucky. In the world, Baffert is one of the most famous horse trainers. Baffert explained that the reasons for keeping the horse out of the race have to do with wanting the horse to have more longevity. He wants to make sure that, for a long time, the horse is able to race. By keeping the horse out of the race, it could potentially keep the horse going for a longer time.

For the simple fact that the Triple Crown isn’t at stake, Super Saver seems to be sitting out of the race. In the pursuit of the Triple Crown, after winning the Kentucky Derby it appeared that Super Saver intended on racing the next two races. After losing the Preakness Stakes, Todd Pletcher, the trainer, simply decided that they would not race in the 3rd leg of the Triple Crown.

To the Belmont Stakes, this will be detrimental. There will be much less buzz around the event, without the two winners of the first two legs of the Triple Crown.

Rightfully, many fans of the sport are upset about this. For top horses in the sport to skip out on one of the biggest races, they see no excuse.

Horse Racing – Preakness Stakes – Preview

At Pimlico, MD, on May 15, the Preakness will be held. On the third Saturday in May, the Preakness Stakes is traditionally held. The Preakness is the second race of the Triple Crown.

Against Super Saver, the Kentucky Derby winner, a large field will race. The horse racing betting news making the round is that for the one million-dollar prize, it appears that thirteen horses will compete.Post positions will be drawn on May 12th.

Four other horses and Super Saver ran in the Kentucky Derby. The distance for the Kentucky Derby is 1 1/4 miles compared to the Preakness Stakes which is 1 3/16 miles.

At the Kentucky Derby, the speed was considered very fast. The Preakness not to match that speed, many experts expect it.

Before going to the Preakness, Super Saver is staying at Churchill Downs. Calvin Borel, his jockey, has put him through his drills at an easy pace. Super Saver’s trainer is encouraged by his energy level and very satisfied by the jockey’s working of the horse.

At the Kentucky Derby, Jackson Bend competed against Super Saver and finished 12th. The trainer, Nick Zito feels that Jackson Bend is tough enough to rebound at the Preakness.

On the day of the race the track might be a little muddled. For Tuesday, rain has been forecast, with isolated thunderstorms possible on Wednesday and Friday. On Saturday the temperature should be in the upper seventy’s and only a 10% chance of rain.

Since Affirmed achievement in 1978, no horse has won the Triple Crown.

Horse Racing – The Last Triple Crown Winner

Horse racing has its legends. In horse racing, Triple Crown is one of the most prestigious feats to accomplish. In 1978, there never been a Triple Crown winner that one back to back. Affirmed went into the history books and provided a new record set.

Affirmed and competitor Alydar rivalry was the biggest part about this event. They met first during the Youthful Stakes, in 1977. Affirmed came out the winner. These 2 year olds slugged it out, in almost every other race thereafter.

In California, Affirmed won all four starts, earlier in 1978 and it set the stage for the three Triple Crown Races. In the final stretch both Affirmed and Alydar made a push but Affirmed came out on top.

The next race was just as breathtaking, with Affirmed coming into the race on top but slowly getting pressure from Alydar. The last race of the Triple Crown happened at the Belmont Stakes, three years later.

He two horses were already running about neck and neck with Affirmed in first place, after a half mile into the race. Affirmed secured his Triple Crown victory and the crowd cheered. Affirmed had just enough left in him to come out on top yet again, although Alydar took the initial lead down the stretch.

It was at the Travers Stakes in Saratoga where Alydar and Affirmed only raced each other one more time. For interfering with Alydar earlier in the race, Affirmed was later disqualified even though, Affirmed won this race. His following performances resulted in two more losses but he still won Horse of the Year for his incredible accomplishments. Every horse trainer is hoping that their mares will compare at some point just as Affirmed, who had an incredible run during his career
